A weird little flower…but I like it!

IMG_3751

As promised my pattern for this flower, there will be further images at the bottom of the page to show in more detail in case my instructions aren’t too clear.

Tools:

Yarn – I am once again using the beautiful Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran (Marine Blue – 233 and Mustard Yellow 223). Find them at:  https://www.lovecrochet.com/paintbox-yarns-simply-aran

Hook – 5.00mm due to the ply of Aran yarn but you can use whatever suits your yarn and the size of flower you would like.

Needle for sewing in ends.

And I am using my glue gun to attach the flowers to the picture frame.

PATTERN:

Centre of flower

  • chain (ch) 3, slip stitch into the first chain and do 6 single crochet (sc) into the middle (or do a magic loop and 6 sc into the centre), pull tight to close the centre.
  • change to a new colour for the petals (see pic #1-4), slip stitch (sl st) to secure and *ch 9 in the first sc, sc in 2nd ch from hook and down to the bottom of the ch for a total of 8 sc**. Slip stitch into the same first sc.
  • Slip stitch into the next sc and repeat step 2 from * to ** for a total of 6 times and slip stitching to the next sc before beginning your 9 chains.

Spindly petals:

Once you reach the last ch 9 set by slip stitching in the same sc (last sc),

  • *Chain 9 and then sl st into 2nd chain from hook and the rest of the chains for a total of 8 slip stitches, sl st into the bottom of the chain to secure.
  • Then sl st into the loops at the back of your first petal (see pic #8-9), if you look at the back of the petal you will see two strands at it’s base and it is here that you will insert your hook, through both and sl st to secure**.
  • Then repeat * to ** until you reach the first spindly petal and sl stitch into the back of this first petal (see pic #9) and cut yarn.

Sew in any loose ends and do with what you wish but please share my pattern if you do, it is much appreciated!

Pics for further clarity, I hope!
