Project finished!

I have finally completed my sister-in-law’s birthday present, 3 days after her birthday but at least it is done. I really hope she likes it. I added a picture of a pink flower that I created for the project but I need to go back step by step and write down the pattern. I will release it once I have perfected it but it was really easy to do and quite sweet to look at.

My spindly flower…

Another simple-ish flower, well I thought so but have a go and let me know so that I can refine the pattern.

Tools:

  • 5.00mm crochet hook because I am using Aran yarn
  • Yarn, Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran (Marine Blue – 233 and Mustard Yellow – 223) Link: https://www.lovecrochet.com/paintbox-yarns-simply-aran
  • Needle for sewing in ends or attaching the flower to a project
  • Glue for attaching to a solid object

PATTERN:

Centre

Chain (ch) 3, slip stitch into the first chain to create a loop (or use the magic ring- link at the bottom of the page) and do 6 sc into the centre, finish by slip stitching into the first sc and tie off. Pull the centre tight to close the hole in the middle.

Petals

Join the new colour for the petals by slip stitching in the first sc of the centre piece to secure and *chain 9, slip stitch in the 2nd ch from the hook and all the way down the chain for a total of 8 slip stitches. At the bottom of the chain slip stitch to secure in the same sc and then chain another 11 chains in the same stitch. Sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook and all the way down for a total of 10 slip stitches. Slip stitch in the same sc stitch and slip stitch to the next sc**.

(See pics below for further clarification)

Repeat steps from * to **.

Once you reach the end you should have 12 spindly petals, 6 sets that are ch 9 (8 slip stitches) and 6 sets of ch 11 (10 slip stitches).

A simple little flower…

IMG_3747

I love all things simple and quick so here is my simple little flower!

Tools:

PATTERN:

Centre

Chain (ch) 3, single crochet (sc) 6 times into the centre and slip stitch (sl st) into the first sc and finish off by pulling the centre closed (I ensure this happens by sealing in the tail with the 6sc).

Petals

Join the new colour in the first sc and ch 3, do 1 treble crochet in the same st, ch 3 again and sl st into the bottom of the same stitch.

Sl st into the next sc and repeat the above step five more times for a total of six petals.

Slip stitch at the back of the first sc for a neater finish. Tie off and sew in the ends.

And you’re done!

Just some of my other projects…

I am just sharing some of my other creations, some are my own and others I have borrowed patterns from their creators’ site. I have posted the links to the original patterns on the pictures, if there is no link then it is my own random creation. I am now also on Twitter which is a first for me and I hope to attract more visitors to my blog.

Just a wee jaunt for some inspiration…

Today was the first day in a while where the sun was shining and it felt warm outside. My daughter and I decided to head out to Culbin woods to gather some leaves and to find inspiration for new projects.

The woods were magical, the beautiful Autumn colours and an abundance of wildlife. We spotted a little frog and loads of dragonflies! So many things to marvel at, I just love the Scottish wilderness and nothing cures the pre-winter blues like the outdoors. It’s a bit early for that I know but as the nights draw in, I crave the sunshine even more and what better way than to have a hike through such beautiful scenery.

After our walk we stopped at the nearby Wellhill Farm to buy some local eggs, I left my daughter looking at the free range chickens and came back to see them swarming at the fence! If you look in the background you can see the massive expanse of grounds that these chickens have free reign over. It makes me feel happier to be buying eggs that came from chickens that actually have the freedom to roam and graze the lovely green fields. We will have to make some poached eggs for breakfast and I will let you know how they taste!
